Highlights of DP-1 and DP-3:
- Occasional Rental for Owner and Seasonal dwellings β 15% surcharge. Allows home to be
occasionally rented to others.
- Short Term Rental for Rental dwellings β 15% surcharge. Allows you to write weekly rentals in all
the seasonal hotspot areas.
- Structure Endorsement for DP-1 Seasonal. Form DPB00 (06/08). Allows a non-residential
structure to be written as a stand alone DP-1 policy. Acceptable structures include: camping
structures, casitas, boat houses (no living quarters), covered boat slips, pole barns, or storage
buildings.
- Vacancy Permission Surcharge for DP-3 Owner, Rental, and Seasonal dwellings that may become
temporarily vacant.
- Itβs now possible to write DP-3 policies as a DP-3 Vacant on a 12-month term!
- In modernLINK, simply enter a quote like a typical DP-3 Owner, Rental, or Seasonal;
however, on the Coverage page select the Vacancy Surcharge coverage. This coverage
will treat the policy as a DP-3 Vacant.
- Allows a vacant home to be written in the DP-3 program without a cancel/rewrite
when the occupancy is no longer vacant. When the occupancy is no longer vacant,
simply remove the Vacancy Endorsement. Also available in the DP-1 program.
- We now accept vacant homes up to $1 million!
Broader Underwriting Guidelines:
American Modern has broadened our underwriting guidelines for acceptability.
Seasonal and Vacant Risks:
- We can accept Seasonal and Vacant risks without utilities and smoke detectors.
- We can accept DP-1 Seasonal risks in isolated areas (subject to brush fire restrictions).
- We can accept DP-1 Seasonal risks without a thermostatically controlled heating source.
- If a risk is DP-1 Seasonal and value at less than $30,000, no prior insurance is required.
- If a risk is DP-1 Seasonal, valued at $30,000 or more and uninsured for more than 30
days, you may submit an explanation and we will consider the risk.
- Un-repaired or existing damage is allowed in the DP-1 Vacant Program.
