Four Ways Insurance Agents Can Show Appreciation for Their Customers Over Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is all about giving thanks for what you have—and for the people who’ve made a contribution to your life in the past year, whether personally or professionally. It’s also a great opportunity to strengthen your relationships with customers by showing your appreciation for them. Here are a few ideas for how to do that.

Write them a note. Depending on the type of insurance coverage you offer, you may have a small or large customer base. If you have a large base, you can have cards printed and sent out with Thanksgiving-themed messages. If your customer base is smaller, however—or if you’ve done a lot of business with a smaller sub-group of customers—it may be worth it to write personalized cards to these special customers.

Save them some money. You can put together a personalized—or general—list of tips for customers on steps they can take to get lower rates on the types of insurance you sell. You can write general tips for each line of insurance, or you can identify opportunities to save for specific customers you do a lot of business with. Send these tips in a personalized email or card, or post them up on your website and publicize them over social media.

Give them a gift. You can offer a small gift to some of your best customers—a gift basket, a good bottle of wine, or a gift card to a favorite store—to show your appreciation. While this might not be possible for every customer you have, it could be a nice touch for the people you do business with the most.

Host a social media event. You can also give gifts to your broader customer base. Instead of giving them individually, host a giveaway over social media. Ask your audience to like a status or retweet a hashtag to qualify to win something you’re giving away. If your customer base is local, get an area restaurant or store to donate a gift certificate—and you can generate publicity for them as well.

Thanksgiving is a great time to demonstrate your appreciation to the customers who have contributed to your agency’s success over the year. Host a giveaway, send a card, give a gift, or do what you can to help them save money on their insurance—and you’ll strengthen your relationship with customers going into the holidays and the new year.
