Sharing the Holiday Cheer With Your Insurance Customers

It’s easy to get overwhelmed over the holidays. Between family celebrations and last-minute work obligations, it can be tough to find the time for what can feel like extra luxuries—such as finding ways to thank your customers at the end of the year. However, this can be a crucial opportunity to cement your relationship with them and ensure you get off on the right foot in the New Year.

When celebrating the holiday season with your customers, keep in mind that everything should be kept non-denominational. Not everyone celebrates the same holiday at the end of the year, and you don’t want to appear to favor one over the others—this can alienate some customers. Keep all your parties and holiday-themed communications non-specific to any one holiday, so everyone feels included.

Host a party. A holiday-themed party doesn’t have to break the bank. It can be as informal as a luncheon or daytime event; or as formal as a black-tie dinner. Holiday parties are a great opportunity to get to know your customers in a more relaxed, less professional environment, and to learn more about their lives, interests, and families. This could help you provide more personalized service throughout the year—and make you some new friends.

Send a card. Cards are always appreciated around the holidays, especially if you personalize them. This may not be possible with your entire customer base, but with the few who are most important to your business, it can be a good idea to include a hand-written note, perhaps thanking them for their business over the past year.

Thank them on your website. Writing a thank-you post on your company blog or changing your home page to include a special holiday-themed message can be an easy and cost-effective way to get the message out over the holidays.

Leverage your local partnerships. You can give gifts, find a great place to host a party, or offer holiday giveaways to your customers by establishing contacts within your community with other businesses. This is especially a great idea if most of your customer base is also local, and would appreciate a gift certificate to a local restaurant or store.

There are plenty of ways to celebrate with your customers over the holidays; these are just a few ideas. The method you choose to show your appreciation for them doesn’t matter as much as the fact that you do it.
